Where I’m From

I am from the city of Salinas
From watching Sesame Street
And being afraid of Count von Count
I am from my mother’s delicious cooking
And wanting to know what everything was about

I am from having adventures outside
Lifting up rocks and letting bugs crawl up my skin
I am from drawing, coloring, and painting
And playing dolls with my friends

I am from reading Dr. Seuss
And playing Powerpuff Girls in kindergarten
I am from succeeding all my classes
And feeling the rush of all the last days of school
And the start of summer

I am from my loving family
From barbeques each and every holiday
And playing comedy and superheroes with our cousins
I am from all my amazing memories that I cherish
For making me who I am
